Fertilizer labels carry a required statement directing you to metals information. This is that page. We publish more than the statement requires, because these numbers are the whole argument for using this product in a tank with shrimp in it.

The two that are not guaranteed — and why

Zinc and copper are both present, and both are required plant nutrients. Neither appears above, and that is not an oversight: a guaranteed analysis may only carry a micronutrient at or above a minimum percentage — 0.05% for zinc and copper. Ours sit far below it, so we are not permitted to guarantee them. They appear in the derivatives statement instead, and here.

Shrimp and snails — the arithmetic

A single dose tells you very little, because metals accumulate between water changes. What matters is where they settle. Dosed at this label’s maximum schedule — three times a week with a 40% weekly water change — copper and zinc level off here:

Both metals get more toxic as water softens, because there is less calcium competing for uptake. Full dose stays under the copper line down to roughly GH 1, but we still recommend half-dosing below GH 4 — the margin costs you very little, and soft-water shrimp are the least forgiving animals in the hobby.

Never use this product alongside a copper-based medication. Our contribution is small, but it is not zero, and it stacks.

Where these numbers come from

The percentages are calculated from the formula — the exact weight of each salt in a batch, divided by the finished weight of the bottle. The accumulation figures assume metals leave the water only through water changes, which is deliberately pessimistic: in a real tank plants take them up, they bind to organic matter, and they adsorb onto substrate. What you would actually measure sits below these numbers.

The EPA figures are the chronic freshwater criteria (CCC), evaluated at a hardness of 71.6 mg/L CaCO3, which is GH 4.

Independent verification is in progress. Our first production batch is going out for laboratory assay with copper on the panel. When those results are in they will be published here, and they will be the numbers that count.
