Anerythristic Tessera Corn Snake (Pantherophis guttatus) — CBB

Captive bred and born. Two genes doing very different jobs. Tessera replaces the normal saddle pattern with a bold dorsal stripe and clean lateral markings — a striking, almost geometric look. Anerythristic removes red pigment entirely. Together they produce a corn snake rendered in greys, charcoal and silver with sharp linear patterning, and no orange at all.

Tessera is a dominant trait, so this animal can pass the pattern on to roughly half its offspring — worth knowing if you have any interest in breeding down the line.

Why a corn snake

Pantherophis guttatus is the snake most keepers recommend to start with. Docile, forgiving, reliable on frozen-thawed mice, and content in a 20–40 gallon enclosure. They reach 3–5 feet and live 15–20 years.

Worth knowing: corns are accomplished escape artists. A secure, clip-locked lid isn't optional.
