About Amatitlania nanolutea
A stunning yellow dwarf cichlid from Guatemala and the smallest member of the Amatitlania genus. Males display vivid golden-yellow flanks with dark lateral striping; females show a warm orange-yellow coloration with darker markings on the belly during breeding. Their compact size and bold personality make them a standout in the cichlid hobby.
Care Notes
Hardy and beginner-friendly — tolerates a wider range of water parameters than most cichlids. Accepts flakes, pellets, and blanched vegetables readily. Forms strong monogamous pairs and spawns readily in caves; provide multiple ceramic cave tubes or coconut shells. Moderate aggression during breeding; best kept as a dedicated pair or with robust tankmates significantly larger than them.
