About Blue-eyed Ancistrus
The Blue-eyed Ancistrus is a captivating variant of the popular bushy-nose pleco family, distinguished by its striking ice-blue to turquoise-tinged eyes. A hardy, compact species that earns its keep as an excellent algae grazer. Males develop the characteristic "bushy" branched tentacles on their snout as they mature, which females lack or possess in greatly reduced form.
Care Notes
One of the most beginner-friendly plecos available. Highly adaptable to a wide range of water conditions. A voracious algae grazer — excellent for keeping glass and décor clean. Supplement with algae wafers, blanched vegetables (zucchini and cucumber are favorites), and occasional sinking protein foods. Males are cave spawners and will guard eggs attentively; provide PVC tubes or small caves. Peaceful with virtually all community fish. Do not keep multiple males in small tanks — males will fight for cave territories.
