Albino Striped California Kingsnake (Lampropeltis californiae) — CBB

Captive bred and born. Two traits stacked in one animal — albinism strips the black pigment down to clean white and butter-yellow, and the striped gene replaces the usual banding with a single line running nose to tail. The combination is considerably more striking than either trait on its own.

Why a Cal king

Lampropeltis californiae is one of the best first snakes there is. Hardy, reliable feeders, a manageable 3–4 feet at maturity, and 15–20 years of life. A 20–30 gallon enclosure suits an adult, and they eat appropriately sized frozen-thawed mice throughout.

As with any albino animal, give this one a slightly dimmer basking area — they're light-sensitive and appreciate the option to get out of the glare.

One rule with kingsnakes: house them singly. The name is literal — they eat other snakes.
