Red Devil Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare) — Half Dollar to Dollar Size

The Red Devil is one of the most striking angelfish strains in the hobby — a selectively bred Pterophyllum scalare carrying deep orange and red across the head and shoulders against black marbling. No two are patterned alike, and the colour continues to develop as they mature.

These are young fish, currently half dollar to dollar size — big enough to ship well and settle in quickly, young enough that you get to watch the colour come in.

Angelfish are happiest bought as a small group. They grow tall rather than long, so give them height: a tall 29 gallon or larger, soft to neutral water, and gentle flow. Peaceful with most community fish while young, though a bonded pair will defend a spawning site as they mature.
